Thinking about a week long fishing trip on the Big Hole R. in Montana from July 16-25th. Would this be a good time to go? I fished it last year in late Aug for the first time and had fun. Can't go in Aug this year. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks Old Man for the info. I drew a MT land owner sponsor deer tag for my friends place and it came with a fishing license, thought I should use it. I hunted elk a few times around Dillon, nice area.

Typically mid-July is a good time to fish the Big Hole. Lots of different hatches possible, water (usually) not too low yet.

I fish it quite a bit as my family owns property there - just returned from four days out there - water was high.........

If you look at my Avatar. It is a picture of the Big Hole, just down from Browne's Bridge. Where I stood last year to fish is about ten feet to the left of the last tree showing. This was just some high water as it wasn't even close to flooding yet. It got a lot higher about a week ago. But it's starting to drop now. If this keeps up and we don't get a lot of rain it should be good to go soon. But I notice that this high water doesn't stop the people in drift boats. Lots of people in boats out there.
