I had planed on going to Rock Creek but due to fires it has been shut down during my window of oppurtunity. So im looking at other options.

Quick little info about trip, I will be wade fishing, I was trying to hit the spruce moth hatch on rock creek and from what hear it's just as good on the blackfoot. I will be going with the wife and kids, so having some stuff to do for them during the middle of the day will help to make sure I get to do these kind of trips again, we normally go to Phillipsburg one or two day when I'm on rock creek.

I have seen there are a couple little lakes seleey, salmon that offer swimming and some little towns that should be fun to site see around the area. So I believe that will be a good option.

What I can't seem to find is how the clearwater fishes in that area or if that is a good area to walk wade fish the blackfoot.

So I'm looking for some info on the area. If it would fit what I'm trying to do and still offer me some good fishing.

Thanks for the help and PM are welcomed.

They have the road closed or did as of earlier today. But if they get it under wraps I'm there love that river. I'm not even worried about the smoke.

I have been there when areas near MP12 and MP 18 were on fire. When MP 0 caught fire, that brought a new view into perspective... I attend the local meetings by the MTFS - very educational...

Good luck and happy fishing!
Yeah I heard that with the first 2 they where keeping a eye on them bit when the 3rd hit and peoples homes in jeopardy things have become more urgent. Well if they open it back up I'm there. I'd move my days at work if I could but I can't and will need to have a back up plan, not going to miss the chance to fish MT.

Not sure if the fires are affecting Georgetown Lake but if not that is certainly a possibility. It would require you bring a pontoon or float tube (or consider renting a boat at Moose marina). Should be some damsel activity and there are nice rainbows that will show themselves on top. A size #10 Para-Adams and the guess as to which way they are headed and to place your offering is great fun. They have several nice USFS, fairly shaded campgrounds and plenty of shoreline fun for the kids. Plus, that side of the lake fishes the best IMHO. Suggest you call the marina and get the latest on conditions.
Moose Marina – 14411MT Hwy 1 (406)-563-3277
Lakeside Marina (406) 282-3033

Good luck and have fun.
