Planing to fish for cutthroats in Blue lake in the Okanongon. Will they still be spawning this time of year? Any tips on what flies to use if there still in the spawn mode.
Thanks, any info would be appreciated.

Any reports on how the fishing landscape is around Tonasket and Omak following the wild fires last year? I'd like to plan trip to Chopaka and maybe hit Fish, Blue, Blue, or Aeneas. Such a nice part of the state and hope things are greening up.
Fished chopaka for 4 day a few weeks back. Its fishing well. This weekend my GF and I are going to fish blue in the sin, chopaka and possibly Aeneas and the Orville blue. Might even try green lake and blue in the lime belt
I camped at Blue Lake a couple of weeks ago. I didn't want to drive north to fish Blue Lake since I really don't like fishing for cutts. Then I decided not to drive south-east to fish Blue Lake because I heard a story that the Department had shifted from stocking rainbows to stocking cutts there. I did think about doing the drive and going on a hike to Blue Lake and fishing that, but the Ranger District said the trail was still covered in snow.

I personally think Okanogan County needs more lakes named Blue. I looked at the Lakes of Washington book and saw lots of unnamed lakes in the county. I am sure one or two of those is probably called Blue by the locals. Need to get those lakes officially changed to Blue.

I did not find a Blue Lake in the Pasayten or Lake Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness on the Okanogan side. So some opportunity to get some more Blue Lakes in those areas.

Only to be outnumbered in WA by lakes named Twin. I believe 2 to 1 to be exact.
Keeps people guessing whether Blue is fishing well or not.
Anyone know if the lake camping at Blue-Sinlahekin is still ok?
Another good one, how's 'horseshoe' lake fishing?

Okanogan lakes are fishing well. The countryside looks pretty good for an area ravaged by fires two years in a row. Lakes that are especially vulnerable to wind fetch definitely have their off days. I fished 4 days at Chopaka 2 weeks ago, and it was fine. Blue, Blue, Aenaes, and Omak were also good on less windy days.

The two postings is May have pictures of Blue Lake and the camping: http://usbackroads.blogspot.com/2016/05/usbackroads-product-casita-travel.html.

You can ignore the article on the travel trailer. We were the only folks there the week after opener (upper lake). Didn't check to see if anybody was on the lower lake.
YO Dude's , WTF, No one really helped me with my question I posted in the beginning of this tread. No sweat, I didn't fish "That Blue Lake anyway's"
Report of sorts and a rant
Sounds like you might be feeling a little "Blue" today.;)

That happens a lot. For anything more than a paragraph I always do it in Word and paste when ready.

FWIW, you're in good company. I managed to lose 400 new photos that I took on a recent week long fishing trip. Gone.

Sounds like a perfect reason to schedule another trip. Get back on the horse that bucked you, right? ;)

So I'm not really a F Up? Thanks for the advice Tim

As for the RANT, don't fish a winter lake on the opener because most of the people who can't or don't read the Regs will catch them all before it opens. Winter Lakes, what a joke.
The Lahontan cutthroats at Blue lake by Wannacut lake are just coming off their spawn cycle so you wont find much close to shore. Get out to the 10' or deeper areas. Any of the red or combo of red chironomids should work just fine. Also some of the smaller minnow patterns should be producing.
I have heard nothing about the Blue lake in the Sinlahekin area being stocked with cutthroats. In talking with the area Bio.. rainbows and browns are the designated trout for the lake. FYI it has been fishing real good.
