I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with the glassworm and if so what do they look like and what colors do they come in?

From the looks of the pics on Google images they look transluscent with a tan to green tinge with a black spot for their badder.

I have seen (and tied) Chaoborus flies which use clear glass beads as the body with a single wind of white hackle front and back. I haven't fished them.

It's a larvae...what's a reasoning for the hackle ala a Renegade style? I presume with beads and hackle its quite large as well. I'm thinking a 20 or smaller scud hook would do the trick.

Big-E, The hackle is quite small; I believe that the reasoning for its addition is to provide some movement to attract the attention of a fish. Also, some (many?, all?) have an anal fan (see http://cfb.unh.edu/CFBkey/html/Organisms/otherarthropods/GChaoborus/chaoborus_punctipennis/chaoboruspunctipennis.html) and a structure at the front for capturing prey. My flies are quite small, tied on size 16 and 18 hooks.

I`ve tied some on size 18 hooks using a pale yellow thread underbody , over wrapped with pearl mylar tinsel . Sometimes I`ll add a dot from a sharpie . Success has been limited .
