A new neighbor has a Cheeky fly reel that I tried out. It seem to be well constructed and very smooth operating. I've never heard of the company or seen their products around. But then, I'm middle-aged and admittedly outdated. Anyone have their reels and what do you think of them?

Well, this guy is a retired airline pilot and as far from hipster as Swimmy is from Greenland. It was a two-tone reel and he did say he bought it on a whim. Still, it seemed well made. I was just in Ennis today for the Tie One On show. I must admit, those frigging Abel reels with the lithograph fish skins are pretty cool... almost makes FSA want to up my game ;).

Okay, so how does this guy catch fish with no rod shaft but just the reel and the tooth clamp handle?

Must be one hell of a reel!!!
I think it's to signify that the fish was so freakin big that only the Cheeky reel survived.
