Okay I can't concentrate at work because the countdown is on to my trip to Chopaka. I'm heading up for 4 days of fishing with a couple of buddies.

Does anyone have any advice on any other lake in the area besides Blue and Aenas?

I usually hit this lake in late June and early July so this should be a blast this early into the season. I'll drop a report probably Monday on my return.

This lake is in Okanagan county?
If so what is the best way to get there.The one I refer to is a "dirt" road off Route 39 near Rattlesnake Mtn.
Is the road marked where to turn off?

Tony, Do you have a Washington Gazetter? One block past Hwy 20 turnoff from Hwy 97 in Tonasket, take a left to Loomis. Take the right hander at the back of town and head north till it opens up into farm fields. Left across the fields, left again to the dirt turn off that slices up the hill in a neverending washboard. The shortcut requires a 4x4 so stick to the dirt road otherwise. Once up on top the road menaders in a big hairpin and drops down into the lake, not into, I should say, to the lake.

I'll post a report a little later today.

One thing I have to say is this is the first year I have gone in May and let's just say the lake was a frickin mad house. Probably at least 65 floation devices and that was probably only the south end. Weather was another story of course up there. More to come

My brother-in-law just got back yesterday, spent a week up there. Said it snowed everyday!! Pretty cold, but the fishing was good. Smallest was 17" to 22". Pack clothing for every kind of weather. Murphy's law says it will be hot when you go.
