You will hear almost anything is the special fly.
A guy catching them hand over fist last weekend was using a small orange body, orange pheasant hackle spider. Others swear by green, blue, pink or red flies. Some say big, others small.
You can try green alaskabou, popsicle, or showgirl. You might want to try an orange or red practioner. I fished those and others and struck out last weekend. But if you talk to 5 guys about the magic fly, there will be 5 magic flies.
I am learing that catching salmon is about being in the right place at the right time. And I mean your position on a pool full of salmon is crucial.
