I had a Clackacraft 16' low profile drift boat a few years back, and really liked how it handled. Then I sold it and bought a Hyde, which had a lot more interior features than the Clackacraft, but it was very hard to row, compared to the Clackacraft.

Now, I've sold the Hyde, and planning to buy a new drift boat over the winter. I am thinking of going back to a Clackacraft, and have heard some really good things about the performance of their Eddy model boat.

Do any of you have this boat, or have experience rowing one. If so, how do you like it handles?

I have the Clack '16 Low Pro and like how it rows as well. Can't speak to rowing experiences with the Eddy but I would guess it rows very similar to the LP. I've herd people rave about how the Adipose boats row.

Just spent 3 days in a brand new 360 eddy on the Klickitat and it is an unreal craft. Insanely light and responsive. Really really impressed. Perfect fly fishing platform.

I don't have an Eddy, but my 2015 ClackaMax 18 footer rows much, much easier than it should.

I rowed my buddys Eddy a few times on the Yakima. Sweet ride. Very smooth and responsive.

Thanks for the feedback. I am planning on getting Sawyer square top oars with shoal cut blades (actually Mountain Driftboat design,,which is similar), so it sounds like I will enjoy how this boat handles and rows.

Square tops are nice I have a set on both my boats but seriously consider a full Pro Loks system.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've never seen these in use around here in SW MT, or if anyone has them here I've never paid attention to them although I may have seen a video once on their installation.

I have a lot of questions about them, however, and I will take a look at them when I finalize my boat order.

Insanely light and smooth, wouldn't be my first choice for a dedicated white water craft, but for rowing for fishing I don't think there is a better system out there. Watch some online videos, but if you get a chance to actually row them, I think you'll be really impressed and see it's not a gimmick, and is really well put together.

Anything you are rowing an eddy through is gonna be more than fine but an oar lock is designed to open and eject your oar if you pin up in a nasty situation and could save your life. Pinning a boat in heavy water is scary, you need safety measures that you can rely upon. I wouldn't be planning to row my raft on a whitewater trip with my oars in pro locks. I know he makes a white water alternative but I would stick to the classics for that. But that's my opinion. A Whitewater float and bouncing through a little class 2 or 3 while fishing is a different thing. The discussion was about an Eddy. And it has just about the lowest sides on any boat out there, is made for fishing NOT running class 5 canyons and its fuckin good at it if you know how to handle it. I was just suggesting go all the way and pair the lightest smoothest rowing system with the lightest smoothest boat. That's all. Just one guys opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

Makes sense for the Eddy. I've hit oars on class II hard enough to pop out my oar lock and bend the pin holding it in. Sounds like it's not a great option for anywhere you plan on banging into rocks.

All about comfort level and where you float! Everyone has a different perspective so when it comes to rowing you have to make the call for yourself that's for sure. Just offering an option that not as many are familiar with, particularly out of staters.

The pro locks are designed to pop out "in the need" if shit goes wrong, and I would not use them for white water either but for fishing they are great, just not my thing but could get used to them

We are new to this so don't take my word...but...taking a guide with us a couple times on the Yakima now we both row and she loves it. Very impressed with the Eddy ourselves in the long floats we took. We have the 360 and our pups love it too.

Thanks for the reply, and the picture of your boat. I am also planning on getting the 360.

I see that you have the mega box in front. While I am not planning on getting the mega box, I do have a question about moving the rowers seat in the 360 Eddy in order to trim the boat, when there is a significant weight difference between the passengers in front versus in the rear. (I guess unequal weight distribution in the boat is even more likely with the mega seat).

I like to keep my boat as trim as possible to make the rowing easier, and I understand that the rowers seat in the 360 has just 5" of adjustment forward and rear, versus 8" with the bench seat in the standard Eddy model.

Have you had any issues with trimming your boat?
