Combined elements of Harrop and Stalcup patterns. Tied here as a grey drake; change color/size to suit your needs.

hook - Dai Riki 300 #10
thread - MFC 8/0 sand
tail - moose body
body - turkey biot tan
thorax - dubbing tan
hackle - grizzly
wing - partridge

mash barb, start thread at 3/4 mark; wrap to point above barb

clean, stack, measure (hook length) some moose body hair; tie in (take a wrap behind to help set the angle), trim

tie in (moistened) biot, notch side down for ribbed effect; wrap to 3/4 mark, tie off/trim

measure (hook length) a pair of partridge feathers; strip fluff off, tie in at 3/4 mark, set upright with some thread wraps

separate and set wings at a more horizontal angle with cross wraps

tie in hackle at 2/3 mark

dub thread/dub a thin thorax

wrap hackle, tie off/trim

add a little more dubbing

divide hackle fibers on underside and take a crossing wrap from front to rear of hackle

repeat from back to front

take as many crossing wraps as needed to build thorax underneath

half hitch x 2, SHHAN

Scott
