Opal Muddler

Got the idea from Grahame Adams Pearly Muddler. Switched out the body (because the opal tinsel was sitting next to the vise) and omitted the bronze mallard (supply is perilously low); highly unlikely the trout will notice or care.

Good morning! I'm not sure where "around here" is (let's keep it hot spot secret) but several years "up there" I was fishing a lake and struggling while two locals were putting on a clinic. They were fishing the dropoff of a very cool marl shoal. Finally I rowed over and chatted them up and they told me "light olive midge, size 16". I had lots of olive midge patterns and selected this fly:

The trout ate it and ate it. It was our last day up there - this fly put the biggest BC rainbow I'd ever caught in my net.
