CDL Muddler

Was just playing around with a Compound Dubbing Loop (hence the name) of deer hair and Ice Dub; the Ice Dub goes in a split thread, then a loop is made to capture the deer hair - didn't really expect much so no pics. Although a bit ratty looking, it turned out okay so I decided to slap on a shoulder and head; next one will be a bit more presentable.

hook - WFC Model 6 #6
thread - Veevus 6/0 black
body - Ice Dub pearl/deer hair (loop dubbed)
shoulder - pheasant rump
collar/head - deer hair

Needed to stock up on Bend Back patterns for the November Florida trip and decided to try Umpqua's new Bend Back hooks. If they work out, they are much easier than trying to bend your own.

A few glass shrimp for the mangrove shorelines. Can be tied with plastic, bead chain or lead eyes.

Finally landed one last night swinging. Rainbow, not the Sea Run Cutthroat I was looking for...But this fish pulled out some line and jumped a few times. Sadly this is my best fish of 2020....on the "vulcan spyder" tied recently.

variant of a trouty streamer I tied recently. I downsized the hooks slightly & changed the color of the color of the collar. Other than that, it still swims really nice.

A simple fly that doesn't always work yet it has "saved the day" for me many times.

One of my favorites. It still amazes me how well the work for being so simple. Might have to swing one on the 2 hander.
