Thinking of going to cooper lake for the opener,does anyone know if there is to much snow? anyone been up there recently? or does anyone know of some small lakes on the east side with campgrounds? and what they might be hitting on? thanks for any advice!!! :AA

Fish till ya drop.
Then suck it up
and fish the evening hatch.

Opening Day is much too early to fish Cooper Lake whether there is snow on the roads or not....probably is though. The water would be too cold for much bite even if iced off. It's basically a June and later lake.
I'd suggest one of the lower elevation lakes like Mattoon or the other freeway lakes
