Another forum member, SUSteelie, and I are floating the Cowlitz tomorrow (10/22) in my 14 foot raft. We're planning on swinging Blue Creek for an hour or two before floating down to Mission Bar. Anyone is welcome to come! Shoot me a PM if you're interested. We will be nymphing and swinging.

Good luck. There have been some fish moving through. We have been having some luck. Some days it is great others slow. If you find fish, do not leave them. The summers are all podded up from what I can tell.

Thanks John. Have you or your clients been getting into any Coho? I just ask because I can't decide between Barrier to Blue Creek or Blue Creek to Mission. Also, are current flows (6500) decent for drift boats? I've only floated the Cow once.
They have started getting some coho down there from recent reports.
Ha ha you said you would never fish the cow again. Don't worry i said the same thing but we come crawling back.

I know, but I'm sick of casting practice on rivers where there are no Steelhead! Time to put my big boy pants on and face the crowds again.
Floated down the Cowlitz a fair bit the last two months. I'd go with the lower drift now-I don't fish the weekends so no idea about crowds-pretty much nobody there during the week. I fished there last Thursday; the river is in great shape saw two other boats all day. Have a great ride and let us know!
Ahh, Blue Creek...an authentic Washington fishing experience.
