I was just out there at lunch and they have Simms G4 wading jackets on sale for 249! Small and mediums only but if you are a smaller person or want to get one for a son or daughter or wife! Just thought I would pass this along!

Not about to drive a hour down to find out its been sold out, but damn thats a good deal.
Don't think I can lose that much weight in time but good for you catching a great deal like that.
wow! I was there at 1:30 and they had 4 or 5 mediums in stock
damn. ill give them a call after I get off work and see if its still there. $250 for G4 is a hell of a deal.
I just got the guidewear jacket for $80 bucks there last weekend, marked down from $200. I looked at the simms jackets and after handling the guidewear jacket the simms jacket felt like a toy I ended up getting one for my dad and a buddy.

yea, that one. They still had a bunch especially in larger sizes
maybe someone can explain this for me...right now I wear a Mountain Hardware jacket and a Goretex Northface jacket for when I wade...

What exactly is the benefit of a wading specific jacket? Is it simply the features of it? Like the large pockets, waterproof wrist, etc?

All that you mentioned plus perhaps a large zippered pouch in back for carrying large items. Maybe retractors, too.
Oh, and you get to pay more for a name like Simms or Patagonia, too :D BTW, I love my Simms G3.
a "wading" jacket is a higher cut so it doesnt get soaked while wading, typically youll find some sort of wrist seals, large pockets that have drain holes and pockets that are placed higher up on the jacket, just below the armpits.

I like heavier fabric on the shoulders and armpits zips also, and fleece lined pockets are a serious bonous.

Ah i see...thanks for clarifying that folks
So the priced has dropped from worlds biggest sucker to just really big sucker. What a bargain.

Nothing man, just an assload more money!

$250 is not a deal for a $100 jacket with a lame simms logo.

gotta agree with the price, kinda silly, but ya will look good and it gets ya in the club, well not my club but that other one:)
Ya gotta' love this board!!! A place where you can be scolded for days because you bought $8 fleece underwear at WalMart but praised for spending 'only $250' on a $450 (?) jacket that has about $50 worth of material in it and a 'gotcha' logo!

Well said Iveoflone, I couldn't say it better.....Joz
