As ever Boot, I thoroughly enjoyed your latest effort. But more and more, I'm noticing the details, the little bits that together that add texture and depth. This one caught my eye, making me reread it a couple of times before moving on: "I changed the topic. But later that night, Christmas Eve, me and millions of children had trouble sleeping."

Beautifully written my friend. Thank you for sharing with us mortals.

Boot, it never fails that reading one of your stories puts me in a place that I've not been for a long time. One never knows how much is fact and how much is fiction. The thoughts that this brings up blends experiences and other thoughts I've had through various periods in life. You are a truly amazing writer, that is my opinion and for me that is all that matters. I agree that right now, at this very moment I can hear my favorite Christmas carol in my head...Silent Night. I'm glad I took the time this morning to watch my two girls sleep, just a moment or two each. I gave them the normal morning kiss on the forehead as they sleep and I depart to work all too early each day. I wonder what they may do today and what stories they will have for their old man when he arrives this evening. I catch myself watching them in my digital photo frame and remember what was going on that resulted in each of those memorable photos. You have once again stirred me, thank you and Merry Christmas to you and yours Mr. Wadin' Boot.

There has to be an asshole in every thread, so I guess that I'm the asshole. Your stories are allright but I feel that they are a bit to long. I find myself going away from them after a while. I never seem to sit and read things to long.

You're not an asshole, Jim- you're just...well, OK maybe you are an asshole. ; ) Merry Christmas, you old Grinch :thumb:

Oh, and:

Great story WB and poignant for any who may have lost someone they held dear after days, months, years of lovingly piercing the darkness to connect. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Well done 'boot, incredible story on a most impossible subject from deep in the dark side. Makes me wonder if there is any closet-hiding-boogeyman you won't yank out and shake 'til it can be told as a meaningful story. Maybe it's the telling of the tale that makes it cathartic; did for me. Thanks, and best wishes to you for the holidays.
