Does the color of anchor rope matter?

I recently acquired an 8' Spring Creek pram, still trying to figure out if I'm too big for it. But, my question is - does it matter if I have white nylon or yellow poly as an anchor line? I'm hoping to fish Pass on Sunday and wondering if it makes any difference.
Thanks - Jay

Jay,
I've used yellow for years. I'm really not sure color or type of rope matters that much when you are anchoring in 30' or less of water.
I'll send you a report as I'm heading north tomorrow.

I use white anchor line and I never really thought about it until a recent outing with troutpocket. I borrowed his anchors and his black line and what I noticed right away was the difficulty seeing the line angle in the wind to determine how to change my anchor set up if needed. It also made it difficult to see how to steer fish around the anchors when they dove for the boat. For me, black was not a good color.

I've thought about this from time to time as well. I primarily use white and mark them in 2' increments with a black
permanent marker and 5' increments with red.
I've also tried camo and black with no significant difference and agree with Ira on the more muted colors.

More importantly I'd like to figure out how to make the bottom of my boat or my legs and fins in the case of a pontoon
invisible before I worry about the rope.:D

Bright orange in a soft braided floating type of fiber.
fish don't care.
But when my buddy rowed away, having forgotten to pull anchor, and neglected to tie it off, it was handy to be able to go back and collect the line floating on the water and retrieve the anchor.
Seriously, really happened. one of many mistakes made that day by an outstanding fisherman who clearly needed time off.

Ira & jwg nailed it. you want to know where your anchor line is at. +100 for braided, bright colored lines.
if you fish or boat the salt water, it becomes clear right away why you want a line you can see in low light.

Does anchor rope color matter? What a stupid question!!!

Of course it does!

How else are you going to find it when you forget to tie the knot at the end ? !

:p

Other than that... I'd go for what Ira and jwg said. Nothings worse that having a fish wrap you rig up around the rope... and at close range!
