Not spey...but i have a Echo Carbon 6wt and its made in China...not sure if their spey are made in china as well.

They are indeed rolled in China. They are an excellent rod casting much better then thier modest price point would suggest.

They also have a no fault, lifetime, fast turn around warranty for original purchaser that is as good as any rod company out there.

If your friend will take a test drive I think he will be quite pleased with the rod's performance.

The Decho and the TR have very different actions, so if your "friend" (kidding) tries an echo, make sure he tries both.

If you can find one of their old spey rods jump on it. Great rod for the price and fine service from the Echo team.

Echo's suck, big waste of money! NOT! Like G_smolt said, try a bunch of them. Their warranty and customer service is top notch, and the products are outstanding as well.

Once you go ECHO, you never go back. There is a big difference in feel/satisfaction between ECHO and some other, lesser rod companies.
