Does anyone have any current informstion on the feather emporium? I placed an order 2 months ago and it has not arrived. I sent an email and no reply. I have called twice, once a month a go and today. Both time the message was the mail box is full. Are they still in business? My payment through PayPal processed ok.

Don't know them but I feel your pain; and know it. I wish everyone announced this kind of theft.

Old Trout, I've done business with Feather Emporium before. His feathers are high quality, his lack of communication lead me to stop ordering thru him. His phone's mailbox has been full for at least 2 years that I know of. I hope your order shows up, I had a couple of orders show up after repeated failed attempts at reaching him. But there are other options for top-rate feathers, so that's what I've decided is the best for me. Good luck.

Paypal may have dispute time limits. My Theft was thru VISA and had a 15, or thirty day restriction. The crook knew of the purchase. I have purchased through dead beats who had outstanding products but don't do it more than once. The pain is more memorable than the attraction.

If I don't get confirmation in three days and shipping notice within a week, I kill the purchase.
Every time I see anyone mention this particular business anywhere online, there's always at least 2 or 3 (and usually more than 5) people who cite firsthand experience and tell a story of being ignored, put off, dealt harshly with, or outright cheated and deceived.

If it was just one or two people, I'd chalk it up to the American customer's sense of entitlement...but repeated, unrelated accounts all saying more or less the same thing? Sorry...I don't care how cheap they are, I'll take my business elsewhere.

If half the stories I've heard are true, one of these days, he's going to piss off the wrong person and get himself sued.

Jim even has a resort on the Madison below Hebgen and above Quake lake for those who fish YNP and the surrounding area. I was there two years ago.
I am not sure if I can speak to the email. I did order from him, and don't use paypal. The website says credit purchases done 'over the phone only, but Credit Card purchases through the site are being worked on" so I called. Places the order directly with him on the phone and got my order in less than 5 days! I was SUPER impressed with the order (assorted hackle, I couldn't find local) and was planning a repeat. Oddly though, I sent him back a "thank you" email gushing about how happy I was (which is not my usual MO) and NEVER received a reply. I thought it odd, but never followed up with him.

Maybe he's just that bad with email? I'd say try and get him in person. He seemed a reasonable enough guy. I would definitely order through him again, but (due to this thread) not trust email, or PayPal...

Funny, just sent him (David) an email yesterday asking about the status of my order from two weeks ago. No communication so far. Paid through paypal so I will give him some more time to respond and if he doesn't I will cancel the order and file a dispute through paypal. And I won't place another order.

I did order from him six months ago and received my product in a timely manner despite all of the poor accounts of his business that I had read online. I was pleasantly surprised and the quality of the feathers was good, thus my repeat business.

I have also ordered in the past from Jim (Campfire Lodge) and never had a bad experience. Quick shipping, quality product and good communication through out.

A number of good online sites for fly tying materials have popped up in the past few years and so I would imagine those with poor service will eventually be eliminated. It's a small community of customers and word (good and bad) seems to travel quickly.....
I order from him about a week ago got my order in about 5 days ... I have order from him several times and its been 5-7 days I had my feathers and I will keep using him till something happens because he has great stuff

My past history with this vender was good for the first couple orders. Then on the last order, I had nothing but problems. Could never get ahold of him, never returned my questions, never got my order. I had placed my order I believe through PayPal and had to put in a dispute which eventually cancelled the order and obtained my refund. I understand not having a product in supply but the lack of communication and explanation has no excuse. Total lack of respect.

I live in Canada, and have been trying for over 2 months to get Dave to give me a quote on a Special Order. I`ve called, several times, I`ve e-mailed, several times. He always says he will do it. He has even said he will do it right away. But I never get my quote. After reading all the stuff I have read today about Feather Emporium, and Dave, I think I will just order elsewhere. I don`t want to risk losing money, and it sounds like Dave is a crook. To anyone who is still going to order from him, even after you have read all of this...well if you lose your money, you only have yourself to blame. If everyone stopped ordering from him, then he would be out of business wouldn`t he?
To Whiting Farms - why, oh why are you still supplying Dave, Feather Emporium, with feathers - after all your years of work, you really want a guy like Dave out there representing your Company?
UPDATE: I decided that I should really ask Whiting Farms that question, so I sent them an e-mail. Here is their response: I am sorry for your experience with Feather Emporium. Although Dave Roberts is selling Whiting Farms products, he is no longer a dealer for us. He has bought thousands of pelts from us in the past and I would guess he still has a large amount of our product to move. We do not have him listed as one of our dealers and we do not encourage anyone to purchase from him. Again, I apologize for any inconveniences.
So now we all have the answer.

I have also had a great success story with an order I placed. It was only one, but large. All manner of hackle, different sizes, colors you name it. Also a few other somewhat rare feathers. I used the phone, ran the order on the CC and never looked back. I've tried contacting him on email, at times, and had no luck. I think I would order again, but much prefer being able to see a feather, in a shop before purchasing it. I know I may get something far superior online sometimes, but it's the way I am. You are right though. Every feather I received was really, really nice. Not one complaint.

I've done one order from him about 1 year ago. I followed up with a couple of phone calls and received a skin that was great. I guess I was lucky. It felt like a poorly one man run shop. But at no time did I fell like I was going to get ripped off. If you need your feathers fast is suggest purchasing elsewhere.

I'm a little surprised to see this thread. I've ordered a few things from Feather Emporium, and never had any issues. I actually ordered a skin week before last; placed the order on a Monday, and had my stuff Wednesday. I guess other folks have had problems, but I have no complaints.

I think he can get behind on emails. I ordered over the phone, and had a really good experience. I tried sending emails, and it was hit or miss. I will definitely continue to order, the materials i got were all really high quality...

I like this one from Dave (himself)...
My only question for Mr Denson is this; How does anyone get cheated out of money when buying something from me online?

I've read all the complaints that he references. The ones that go back to the "feathers in the hair" days are particularly vicious. Time and again I've responded by asking the anonymous person who claims I cheated them out of hundreds of dollars to simply email or call so I can fix the problem. Only one time since the lady's feather craze in 2011 has anyone responded and yes, the mistake was mine and I took care of it. As for the rest of the complaints I ask myself - if what the person is saying is true, why did they let this happen? If you're one of them, call me. My cell is 608-332-4220.

As for dodging calls to avoid being caught, well how does that work? All the customer need do is either contact PayPal ( they give you 6 months to file a claim) or contact your credit card company and dispute the charges. How hard is that?

Either way the money is immediately pulled from my account and if I can not provide a valid tracking number within a few days - the money is returned to the buyer.

Every buyer on the internet knows this and believe me, some use the PayPal rules to their advantage. It is virtually impossible for me to run some kind of scam using my website and PayPal to bilk people out of their hard earned money.

Non the less, some like Mr Denson read those reviews and get scared. To them I say; there are a lot of websites out there selling feathers - buy from them - if they have what you want in stock.

It's 6:30 in the evening here and I'm still packing orders - I started at 7:00 this morning. I do every order myself and I do the best I can. That doesn't mean I don't make mistakes - I make plenty. But some people today are just plain mean - mess one up and they will crucify you any way they can. Do 30 to 50 orders a day and you're bound to make a few people mad no matter how hard you try.

Start a website Mr Denson, you'll see what I'm talking about.
