Did you not see the title? He did snag a date, his first choice no less!I'm thinking the odds of snagging those dates are low. Have you floated the Smith before?

Amazing picture!I've been down 8 times.
And yes, late June is impossible to get. Out of the 8000 or so applicants each year, I bet 6000 are for that week. I always put in for those dates but have never drawn.
Late June on the Smith is one of the most coveted permits in river trips.

This statement defines you.. The fact that you see things differently from humans on every subject is astonishing. You do realize that your winning means there were losers. This is a bad thing. No doubt your elation is also wracked with remorse?

Hmm, maybe we should have some kind of contest?Congrats!

The one time I had a permit the river was completely blown out so we just said no.I'm one of the 8000 losers. Maybe next year. Our trip last year got canned due to low flows. Some day I'll make it out there.

You have a good chance of drawing if your 3 choices are in April...or October. But you also have a good chance of seeing all 4 seasons then as well.I was a loser too, ugh.... So is 12 years the running average of times it takes to finally get drawn?
