A few friends and myself got out on new years day. A light dusting of snow made the roads north of Baltimore a bit slick early in the morning. We fished the Gunpowder. The flows were up a from all the recent snow melt. We've had two feet here in central Maryland within the past two weeks.
Not a very big big trout but my first of 2010 on a cold January morning.
Never heard of the Gunpowder but it is interesting to see the number of vehicles chasing trout on a winter day. If I didn't know better, it looks like the parking lot at a popular winter steelhead spot below a hatchery. I thought only winter steelheaders were nuts?
If I was just looking at the pictures I could of sworn it was the upper, upper Sauk. And those rocks look like they could be as slippery as the ones on the Sauk.
