I have only been over there once during the summer and we fished the N. Platte out of Casper. We used a hopper with a Pheasant tail dropper and had lots of luck. That seems to be a consistant pattern this time of year through out the Rockies.
I have been to Yellowstone area 4 times fished all sections of the park and a few of the surrounding rivers. Hoppers with droppers are very effective. But I would take as many foam ants as you can load in your fly box! Have had cutthroat leap out of the water to take an ant. Once I had two 20+ inch CT fighting for my ant on slough creek. It was incredible! Most rivers in the area have callibaetis (sp?) so epoxyback and hares ears are good nymphs for droppers as well as the pheasant tail. Have a great trip and give us a report when you return!
