Alright I know this is a weird question for a Washington Fly Fishing forum...But has anyone fished the Azores? I know there are a lot of current and former military guys on here so maybe there is someone. I may be having the "opportunity" to fish there for a while, so trying to figure out what kind of gear I would need to make the best of it. Thanks for any input.

I grew up on one of the islands, never saw fly fishing. most fish we targeted were blue fish, pirch, and morepirch. at night it can get interesting, sharkes, eels to 10lbs or more, and different kinds of bottam fish. I don't know the names of most, but yes they can be interesting. I used surf type gear with about 20 lb tst. Most islands don't have beaches just huge bolders and lave flows. i could go on for ever I lived by the water back then and had the time and the legs to climb the cliffs. have fun.

Thanks for the input... I thought some sort of Rockfish-y critters might be catch able from the shore. I know the sail fishing is supposed to be hot but not really something you do after work....
