I've always thought the slough was closed to fishing but after picking up my first fly rod at The Avid Angler they said it was open but check the regs. My second trip in I landed a few of what I believe are white fish all around 8" and last night I landed my first ever bass! A real nice 2lb - 2.5lb small mouth. After that a nice little perch.

I am looking for anyone else who fishes this area or has recently fished the slough. It closes the end of this month and I'm looking for a couple of new spots to hit or ideas on what other fish might be in there and how to catch them. The Chinook (i think) are coming through right now, shaking lice seems to be what they are doing but I'm sure they will be in Lake Sammamish for opening day.

Thanks for reading and to anyone who may have some ideas! - Jon

I'm pretty sure those were pike minnows you were catching and not whitefish. Try further down around Woodinville and into Redmond anywhere you can find a hole in the blackberry bushes. Try reverse spiders in the slow water and see what shows up.

Fozzy:

I fish the slough regularly. Its a hit and miss fishery. I've done well, been skunked alot and caught too many NPM's. Fish are concentrated in certain areas at certain times. Wading access is tough and bank fishing is pretty limited as well. Floating it is an option but the effort to fish equation goes the wrong way. PM me and I can give you a few spots. Season ends soon though ( aug 31)

Thanks guys! I'm going to try and get in as much fishing as possible trying out some new spots before the end of the month. Sounds like maybe I was wrong about the salmon in there right now, maybe they are sockeyes and not chinook? Oh well, fun to look at I guess....

Little Bear Creek. Easy access, easy wade.
Hopefully you're 15 years old or younger. Page 40 of the 2010 WDFW regulations says it is open only to juvenile anglers age 15 and younger. Ditto Big Bear Creek. And the Slough is selective gear rules and all trout are catch and release.

Other'n that, access is a b---h as previously mentioned. You need to enjoy cutting yourself with blackberry branches. Also, at this time of year the water is too warm to support trout in most of the slough. Remember that most of the water is skimmed off the surface of the lake, which is very warm all summer. Thus the pikeminnows, trout, perch, etc. this time of year.

Perhaps the LBC recommendation was more about access to the main slough via or adjacent the creek and not the creek itself? Just saying... Anyone else know better?

Snoop Dogg, 'Gin n Juice' but I prefer the Gourds version.

They're squawfish. They account for 90% of what you'll catch in the slough on most days
Well, I just caught 3 big ones with nymphs today from the Slough. To put this question to rest, I took a quick picture of the one attached which was 14.5"! Is this a pike minnow or peamouth minnow? Has anyone seen them this big from the Slough?
