iagree If it wasn't for a makeshift wading stick I found I would of lost my ass twice last year. That river is the slipperiest damn river i've ever been on, holly shit! Every time I go there it amazes me how I DON'T throw my back out.
The summer runs are found upriver this time of year as well. Although it was years ago, I caught my largest summer run fish ever well above Flaming Geyser.Flaming Geyser has some nice holes . The water runs near Gin Clear there. The water from Whitney Bridge up to Kanaskat seems to be the hottest for the winter run, but it's been said that the summer runs remain in the river until the winter. I wouldn't know [but maybe I should find out!]. I have noticed that the Kanaskat holes get loaded with gear fishers especially at Hatchery Hole.
Yep, locally referred to as, "Tweaker Heaven!!" It doesn't really matter if you leave anything of value in your rig or not....if they can't see it they know you've stuffed it under the seat, the glove box or somewhere else and they'll ransack the whole rig to find it !!make sure you have ALL your valuables out of your car. There are CRAZY break-ins there all the time.
I can tell you've never fished the North Umpqua (fly only water); wading is a new life experience .......That river is the slipperiest damn river i've ever been on, holly shit! Every time I go there it amazes me how I DON'T throw my back out.
Makes it tempting to think "Go fishing," then "Go hunting" instead. Unfortunately, the "Law" protects the "Lawless.""Tweaker Heaven!!"
