I have a WF floating fly line that came on a 697 Z-Axis (and Sage reel) outfit I bought used probably 4 years ago. It's a peach color, so I always figured it was a Cortland 444 Classic in 6wt (came on a 6wt). Inspecting further it has welded loops t both ends, and as far as I can tell Cortland only has a front loop on the 444 Classic. I just weighed the first 30' of the head and it's 200-210 grains which would indicated it's an 8wt line. The head is roughly 40' long and it doesn't appear to be an integrated shooting head or anything. The entire line is a light pink or peach color.

The all Sage outfit had me wondering if it was a Sage line, but it's tough to find good info on those old lines. Have any of you ran across peach lines other than the 444 Cortland Classic? Welded loops on both ends tells me it's 10ish years old at the most.

Just curious...but does it matter what line it is? Are you looking to get another, does the line not cast well, or...?

Not really. I'm curious more than anything. I cast it on a few rods and didn't love it, so I was just trying to dial in what it was when I decided to weigh the head and realized it might not be a 6wt line like I thought.

With the head weight and type of line I figured I could look up the taper and get an idea of what it would be best for (or sell it).

The Rio single hand spey line is a peach shooting head line. Does it have an olive green running line?
Nope solid peach.
Good point Randall, probably not a Rio. :D Although it's older, so maybe it was before the recent wave of failures.
