I have 3 of these reels in the 5/6 size and a dozen cassettes that are in constant service. One of the reels has a defective gear assembly-the part that you take off and reverse to change from left to right hand retrieve. I have written to Orvis and also to an outfit in Canada that sells Dragonfly reels. Dragonfly originally provided the reels to Orvis under the Rocky Mountain name. I may or may not hear from these guys.
My question is-does anyone have an old beater that they want to get rid of? The only part I need is the gear assembly but I would certainly take the whole reel if available. Or any other suggestions where I might find this part. The reels have been discontinued by Orvis for several years but may still be available in the UK.
