Heading later this month to Pender Island for first time. Can't seem to find much information on B.C. websites.
Anyone shore fished or tried any of the freshwater lakes there?

It isn't well known for fishing. Most go to Pender for other reasons. Problem with most of the Gulf Islands is lack of rivers/creeks on most. Some salt-chuck fishing in a boat, but trolling or mooching deep. I had never heard about lakes there, but apparently they exist. Another site mentioned that at least one lake has trout, but it is private.

Saltspring Island would be the better bet. No matter where you are on the Gulf Islands, this time of year is too warm for the few places there is fresh water, and generally too rocky (ie. cliffs) for fly fishing. I live on Vancouver Island and Saltspring is the only one I have bothered with.

Where to you fish on Saltspring? St Mary's?
I've hooked some nice cutthroat around Fulford harbor on saltspring. Kayaking around the kelp beds should be effective
Good luck
Thanks for the replies, not expecting great things flyfishing wise but looks like plenty of water beach access spots and rowboat available..
It's a kicking back type of vacation and my try crabbing.
Maybe will bring SRC rod and a jigging rod to see what might bite.
Any other tips appreciated!
Will post a report one how it was.

Row boat to kelp bed then tie bow to kelp head. Fast sinking line and a Clouser should produce rockfish. Shoot for slack tide but not critical. Check DFO for rockfish conservation areas RCA ie closed areas

You might even hook a Chinook.
