Ate more meals at Miner's than I can remember when I was coaching girl's fast-pitch softball. I always enjoyed it & the young lady athletes were insistent . . . a "must stop" prior to the short drive back to the Tri-Cities.

Well done Terry. Beautiful.

I spoke with the guy who has the property I hunt this morning. He said the doves are still there as of a few hours ago. Now comes the praying part...

Then it's off to Miner's and probably another tour of the lower Valley looking for all the old haunts where my buddies and I spent so many wonderful hours hunting pheasants and ducks. This is better than Christmas, birthdays, and opening day of fishing season all rolled in together. No offense. Just saying..

Karl, I've seen a few here but not like years past. My haunt near Wapato has changed crops so will be huntin for a new huntin spot. If ya want a shitty shot partner..give me a shout. Those little bastards will humble ya. Oh, and bring boxes of shells for 10 birds..last time out 5 boxes (125) for ten little birds..but what fun. Yea, I totally sucked that day..and was my shoulder barkin at me the next day.

Fodf: I would love to offer invites to others but since I'm hunting as a guest I can't. My idea of a good dove hunt is a social gathering of idiots who can't hit their ass with either hand, shooting at small, darting, little puffs of soft brown feathers traveling nearly the speed of light. The more idiots the better.

I haven't been to Yakima in quite a few months so I don't know how many wheat stubble fields there are this year. I imagine that is the key as usual. I have also had a couple of outstanding hunts in the past few years in newly planted apple trees where the ground was tilled. The tough part is scouting and when you find the right place trying to locate the land owner to get permission. Oh, for the good ol' days...

Karl, only 3 more days till the "glorious 1st"!! You're welcome to come up and prowl the forest roads around here. This cool weather will really be beneficial for the birds, so I expect we'll do well.
