I am having a very hard time finding rivers in the Western region that are good enough to wade in. I am looking for non specific areas of rivers and creeks to wade for rainbows and cutthroats. I have been out looking for places for the past 4 days and having a really hard time. New to the sport and new to the area. Any suggestions?

Question is? What area do you live in. I live in the Marysville area. I have fished most of the waters around here and their all wadeable. The upper parts that is. I'm retired so I can fish whenever I want to. Maybe we could meet some where some time.

No problem. It's just more help when I fall down and break a leg. There is alot of water around here with fish in it. They are not huge.

How about going back up to the Beckler area. I know of 6 streams in that area. The Beckler, Rapid, Tye, Foss, Skykomish, Miller Rivers And Money Creek. Opps that's seven. Can't make it Saturday how about Sunday. If that area is no good. There are other places closer.

Well My buddy has his heart set on going up to the north fork of the nooksak this weekend so I guess that is where we are going. Now the next weekend that we would be able to go is 2 weekends from now. If we could arrange something for then that would be great.
Thanks,
Darren

Have to agree with the previous ideas on wading the westside streams. Most flyfishers mean well when they tell others about places they fish, but are reluctant to give away their secrets. With time you will find your own private wadable areas where you always find fish. You too will treat these fisheries right and not want everyone who owns a fly rod in your domain. Sounds like your going about it in the right way though. I learned things about roads, trails, map and compass navigating, river gradiants and in general flyfishing by getting out there and doing it. The things that help me the most are good waders and boots. If a fisherman is not in the water he is seriously limiting his casting room and fishing time. Wish for Fish-Frank

I see you guys were thinking of going up in the Beckler R. area. Hope you do better than we did last Thursday afternoon(June 7th). We got one fish between the 3 of us. I think the water needs to drop a bit more and warm up a little too. Probably be better next month sometime. We fished it pretty hard from the end of the road up stream about a mile. Water looked good and it was definitely fishable. Actually its very low for this time of year. The Rapid was just rippin', hence it's name! By now, Monday morning it's probably a mess now after rainning all weekend. If you do go, how about posting a report. Thanks, Jim

Yakima

Why not look to Yakima side? Plenty of wild trout and river is very wadeable in upper section (actually you don't need to wade at all to reach the fish. Trout often lies behind the boulders close to the bank)

It's best to fish it after it's been nice for a while. From the end of the road isn't it a bit small?. I find the best fishing in the lower reaches. You have to go up the Rapid river road to find good fishing. It's about 7 miles long.

Thanks for the tip. We are planning another trip but won't be till next month since I'm already busy the next couple weekends. One of the guys I went with has been fishing that area since he was a boy going with his dad and knows all the spots. Up above doesn't get as many fisherman and yes it is a little smaller. The Rapid dumps a lot of water in, probably more than the Beckler at that point. When it slows a bit should have lots of holes behind all those rocks to drop a line. The other day though when we were there it was just all white water. I'll let you know when we go next time, K?
