I just got back from the fishing the Hoh and the Queets over the Christmas holiday. Both the Hoh and the Queets HAD good fishing but the rivers got blown out yesterday (DEC 25th) after the last big rain storm. It's going to be a few days until things settle back down. I would estimate that the rivers rose between 3-5 feet in a 24 hour period. High wind is expected the next day or two.

For the Queets, the majority of the fish can be found below where the confluence of Salmon Creek. Its a good hike downstream and you can find peace and solitude. For the Hoh, fish are found as high as the Park Boundary.

Wait for the rivers to drop and then make the trip!!!

Hoh! well I camped out last week up there and the fishing WAS really nice, nobody around at all on Christmas eve, water was in great shap, well under 1000cfs, but by christmas am the wind was howling and the river was blown up and had gained nearly 9000cfs! I fished the upper bogachiel tuesday and it was lovely, no one up there and I caught a few hatchery steelies, fresh, and one darker fish, spawned looking. The Hoh gave up a few big BIG dollies but that was all for me. I mostly hiked. Falling branches had me sleeping in my car. Drove home in a monsoon- just like a week or so ago!
