At least not that I tell you about Jim. Believe it or not there are things that I don't talk about. Now fishing in Dillon MT, it is off the hook, everyone should go there!

Why not. Come summer time that's about all the license plates I see are Washington ones. When somebody from there comes around I go into hiding.

Homestead lake is just about a mud puddle. It's on a creek that dries up in the summer time. It's west of Stratford. If that helps any.

Park at the cattle guard, stay to the high trail past the first lake, head west - through the sage, find lake. It can be done without a GPS..... Not sure that I would want to leave my vehicle in the "parking" lot - used to be a lot of garbage, discarded appliances & spent casings.

Have fun.

Scott,
I agree with you. Last time I was there, the place was a garbage dump. Broken glass, litter etc.
It seemed like a likely place to get your car ripped off. Fishing sucked as well due to extremely low water.
Much better place to fish over that way in my opinion.

That is too funny Stonefish, but unfortunately true. Scott's directions and description are accurate plus it had a bad winter kill a few+ years ago and I don't know if it has bounced back yet. I fished it with a buddy this time of year a couple years ago and it seemed nearly sterile. Unless you have up-to-date info on the lake, I'd call Darc at the Desert Fly Angler in Ephrata to get the latest scoop: 509-754-4070

A sad commentary about Homestead is that back in the days when Kaufman's Streamborn was the pre-eminent fly shop in the eastside Seattle area, that's where they'd take their students who'd sign up for their lake fishing classes. 'Class Lake' I believe it used to be called by more than one person who was first introduced to lake fishing there.

I fished Homestead about 6-7 years ago, it sucked then. It was written up in Flyfisherman magazine and said it had bows and browns. It had carp and a few small smallmouth bass, no trout for us. The water was nasty, it wasn't worth the hike then and I'll never go back. I think it would be better to fish some of the smaller ponds you pass on the way to Homestead, some of them had big carp.
