It's funny that thread was put up a few days ago. Here's why.

Chuck Tye and I were up in Ellensburg this weekend doing recon work for 2 Fly and visiting the fly shops doing our PR work (and buying any hot flies we may need we didn't have). Unfortunately we had lot of work to do so only would have the afternoon/evening to fish. Of course while we were picking up food to eat at our campsite, we had to fill growlers and sample a few treats.

Did more work and PR and settled into camp at the KOA Ellensburg. Thought we'd try fishing a little, but was crowded with people staying at KOA throwing rocks and playing in the water. We had a feeling this may happen, so walked back to our site and started eating dinner. Low and behold, we had an encounter we weren't expecting.

As we sat there drinking off our growlers after finishing dinner, two very beautiful women in bikinis approached us. They were both smiling and beelining directly to us. Chuck and I looked at each other like we were hallucinating. Sure enough, they walk into our camp and say "So you boys are fisherman?". I thought I was in a bad porn movie, or being punked. LOL. We almost said in unison "Yes ma'am!". The older of the two, and as we found our later was the mother, puts out her finger and low and behold there's an olive wooly bugger buried to the bend of hook. She asked if we could remove it. Come to find out it was barbed. I've unfortunately had a lot of experience removing hooks. I use the same method and has always worked. Her other kids and grandkids came over to watch. I grabbed some heavy line and wrapped around bend of hook and held other line tight.

I held her hand and said "It'll be quick" and at that second I yanked line and said " That's what she said". Everyone laughed at that as I was holding the fly and she was in disbelief it was that fast and painless. I got a big hug and Chuck and I went onto teaching them about fly fishing. Even taught fly casting. Caught some fish on the evening bite and had some drinks.

Was a good day tater!

Wait a minute, pics or it didn't happen!

You know your getting old when grandma in a bikini looks "very beautiful". Just saying.;)
I may just get them. She took a picture to share. Hopefully she'll post on NW PHWFF page.

I will add that Chuck and I spent a good couple hours helping them. They were fishing way too heavy of a rod (8/9 wt), 20 # straight tippet, and that was nail knotted badly on the line. We rerigged it best we could, put a decent tapered leader on it, and a good selection of flies (olive wooly bugger was only trout fly they had in box). We had extra rods to cast with, but sounds like the Mom was visiting from Florida, which explains the set up she had.

Don't try that with a 2/0 salmon hook. The one I had in my finger had a huge barb and it just ripped everything up on the way out. It took a ton of force and a couple tries. Of course the bone in my finger being in the way made it hard to push down; but it was the barb that did what is was designed to do a hung in there. I wish my hooks would stay in fish the way it did my finger.

Actually that's how I cut my teeth doing it. Just it was a treble with two of it's books in. Most were big siwash hooks on salmon plugs. wasn't the casting that got you, but fish in the net that would.

Oh, Yes you're right it hurts more with bigger hooks. But it hurts worse than that driving that big hook through to pinch and feed back through.

You realize your original post could have still turned into a viable porno at literally any point up until you put a period at the end of your post...
LOL true. But don't think our significant others would've enjoyed that turn of events. Kathy and Jessica and the rest of family were great people. Really enjoyed teaching all of them about fly fishing.

Good story but the beer in that glass looks far to light for actual Irish Death....I'm just saying.
It's their pale ale. I normally drink their High Five Hef when it's hot out but they didn't have it on tap. I love QID, just not on really hot days.
