There is something called "scope" when it comes to anchoring. For anchoring a big boat, 4 times the depth is standard to anchor safely. Obviously our boats are not very big, but in my drift boat, I usually want 2 times the depth to anchor securely. When I double anchor in a lake, I usually drop the stern anchor and let out at least 2 times the depth. When that line comes tight, I drop the bow anchor and when it hits bottom, I start letting out "scope" on that anchor while pulling in the stern anchor , so the boat is suspended between the two anchors. Than will minimize swing, which is very helpful for indicator fishing especially.
