Does this type of damsel populate WA waters? If so, might be fun to try and come up with a pattern that one would fish off a floater and mimic it's in-the-film hunting behavior.... This photo is NOT upside-down.

Many of my flies are tied so crap they swim upside down, sideways etc. It’s why I like chironomids

Seriously what I do like about the shot is that a lot of damsel are more yellow than olive and translucent when small. Trout can be really picky when dialed onto a particular colour of damsel nymph.

Not a damsel nymph but still an upside-downer. Ralph Cutter, in his video Bugs of the Underworld, mentions that he often sees midge pupae hanging on the underside of the surface film with their bodies in a u-shape as they provide leverage by pressing the ends of their abdomens against the surface to force their heads through the sticky meniscus. This was one of my efforts at an imitation, and it has worked tolerably well during midge hatches.
