Intermediate section sink tips

Any big advantages or disadvantages of the 2.5' sections of intermediate tip above the 7.5' section of full sink in the Airflo tips? Been running full sink 10' mow tips up to this point but looking at a set of the Airflos. Also, any strong opinions about the airflo vs rio tips? Thanks.

The original concept of MOW tips was not only to get down quickly, but to be able to bring the fly back up quickly as it was approaching a potential snag, swim the fly over the obstruction, & drop it back down again. A section of intermediate line buffers that action.

The intermediate style MOW/FLO tips are made to pair with intermediate sink skagit lines. I don't see any advantage or disadvantage to add them to a floating skagit head. I try not to overthink sink tips.

Airflo level T have very fragile coatings. Usually get about 8 hrs fishing before a section of coating peels off. I have started putting hollow core Power Pro over top to protect coating and that works well with minimal reduction in sink rate. Rio seems to be more durable but don't have enough time on water with them yet.

I was hoping you'd say Airflo was more durable, because I've had two rio mow tips fall apart after minimal use. At $20 a piece, can get expensive!
