I was interested in their stuff and did a little poking around. From the little I've read so far (no first-hand experience), it seems the quality of the company's gear is problematic and their customer service is spotty.

in the same price range, you can pick up a Konic...or, for much much less, you can just pick up an old Medalist that'll last you several lifetimes.

If you don't go with Reds---a great choice, consider one of the Allen Alpha or Alpha II reels.

 

+1 on the Echo Ion 810.

...and for the guys at Red's - under the section headed "Echo Ion Reels feature", I'm pretty sure those are the attributes of the Ion Rods.

Either that, or Tim & Co. have come out with a 4-piece travel reel.
