Today I left my current employment situation. I am now homeless/unemployed. I am looking for a new job (preferably in the fishing industry) so if anyone has any good leads on entry level jobs please pm me.

The real reason for this thread though is I would like some opinion on where to go fishing. How does the OP fish in October? Any good free camping on the methow? Anyways, just trying to figure out what to do with life.. I am tired of working for the government and am now fully committed to perusing my passions.

I have a camera, 8wt, and a couple months (and very little money). Wish me luck!

Ive done it now... looking for some advice

Thanks for the good luck, I think I will need to cash in on whatever luck I have stored up to this point :p

Depending on how things go, I may be wintering in PA. I am really interested in riding hurricane ridge this winter. Cheapest season passes on the planet.

If you have an educational background in fisheries, my neighbor in Winthrop who is a fisheries biologist for the feds told me there was a state fisheries biologist job open in Twisp-but that was a month ago or so. Up some of the roads off the Chewuch (Boulder Creek Rd etc) there are lots of unimproved hunting camps that are free. Some are right next to creeks so water is available. Have fun while you are unemployed-once you get a job you like, it might be years before you have this much freedom again! Rick

You can even save more $$ than that out on Hurricane Ridge by not worrying about lift passes and do a bit of ascending on skins via Tele/AT/Splitboard or if necessary snowshoes. Great way to enjoy that piece of the planet.

Best of luck on the next chapter in your adventure.

Good luck what ever you do have fun and don't take it too seriously. Write when you can if you find good fishing or good news or even a good job. We'll be looking forward to hearing from you.

Amen to that Mr. Topwater, it should be a winter filled with safe snow sliding opportunities. This is one of the few areas nearby where you can get to slopes facing nearly every imaginable direction. One of these slopes is almost safe in all but the worst of conditions. Still play it safe, but certainly go outside and play.

Get apps in at several ski areas NOW, you have some choices...they are taking them. Go for night janitor... no supervisor and ski/ride everyday. If you have equipment experience try running groomers at night. If your going to be at a ski area you want a night job... to get 120 days of ridin' in. I have done both and always found flop space... might take till they open before you find your peeps and a place, but it'll happen. I did it at White Pass and Summit areas. I like White Pass because you can ski in big trees to minimize avalanche danger. Back country access from the top to Goat Rocks Wilderness! Janitor is a bum... ski bum.

Sounds like an adventure for sure. If your heading to the OP for some fishing, skiing, or boarding there is a free campsite 40 miles outside Port Angeles at bear creek right off the 101 hwy open year round. Its a stones throw from great fishing a short drive to town. I have stayed there many times. Good luck and have fun!

Sean, great point about Steven's Pass. Awesome location with lots of options. Not as close to the OP fishing as Hurricane Ridge and I'm not as familiar with the S rivers on that side, but know they are worthy of ample exploration time.

Evan, you were online half the time you were on your honeymoon...who are you to say?
