A small mod to the original http://www.flytyingforum.com/pattern5615.html which is a neat take on the Mrs. Simpson type fly.
hook - Mustad 79580 #6
underbody .030 non-tox
thread - Danville 6/0 white
tail - calftail
rear wing - partridge
body - Ice Dub hare's ear
mid-wing - partridge
gills - Arizona Simi-seal red
collar - woodduck flank
mash barb, wrap shank with non-tox; start thread, wrap to bend

measure (gap width+ past bend) some calftail; tie in/trim

strip the fluff off a pair of partridge feathers; measure (halfway to the tips of tail), tie in on either side of tail, trim

dub thread/dub rear 1/2 of hook

prep another pair of partridge feathers, measure (halfway to tip of rear wing), tie in on either side of body, trim

create a dubbing loop

wax thread, insert dubbing, spin, wrap

create another loop and repeat with red dubbing

prep woodduck flank, tie in/fold fibers back (with scissors tip)

wrap woodduck, tie off/trim, whip finish, SHHAN

Scott
