Pan, you already bought it and now want to know what the geeks think? You hella funny guy. I have a friend that has one in that series, he likes his. I like my fuji Z33WP. Seems that today there are a lot of good small camera options like there are rod options. Now show us some cool ID fishporn.

I had an Olympus waterproof that served me well for several years. It went to the bottom of the Missouri River last October. My only complaint was the viewfinder was a little hard to see and soon got scratched up pretty good. I replaced it with a Panasonic Lumix WP. I like it a lot and have shot some awesome HD videos with it as well including one of my wife fighting and landing a 5# bonefish in Mexico! Olympus should take some very good pictures for you! I'm with Rick on this one. I'm now on my 2nd Panasonic waterproof camera and love it. The first took many a tumble into the river and was covered with sea water and help up excellent. The only reason for the upgrade was more pixels.

I believe this is a modern evolution of the 1030SW that I bought a couple years ago. I like mine a lot. Does it take the best photos? No, not the best. But I bought it for what it does well: decent point and shoot that is rugged and waterproof. I didn't want to worry about getting it wet or banging it around when I'm out fishing. It has served me well, and I do not baby it. Reviews seem favorable for your new camera. Get a good high speed HD card and start playing around with it. Being able to submerge the camera will yield some good and bad photos of fish under water. When you get lucky, you may end up with something spectacular. Have fun with it.

Cameras are a lot like guns in that guns don't kill people, people do.

The world's best camera in the hands of someone who can't tell a good photo from Power Bait isn't gonna automatically make them a great photographer. But even a mediocre camera in the hands of someone with a great eye will take outstanding pictures.

Like Itchy said above, play around with it and then post some of your favorite images.

That's for sure!

I just paid 2k for my current "go to" camera, yet it takes very strange wildlife photo's...

Hey PanHandle - the olympus will be fine for 90% of what you want to do. Unless you get into some kind of crazy photography stuff - you're not going to need anything more.

That being said - I just recently bought a Nikon D90 which is a pretty kick ass DSLR camera. It's awesome. The pictures are unreal. The ability to edit images in their RAW format is also amazing. However, it's totally overkill for a guy like me who is never going to go pro.

I recently lost an older Pentax Optio W series when a huge water snake grabbed it out of my hand at a local lake.
It did everything I needed it to do but instead of waiting for a used replacement to become available, I decided to take advantage of the last few years of tech advancement and bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 based on reviews of the previous model DMC-TS1 and the planned improvements.

It should arrive tomorrow. I hope I like it.

Here's a review that you might find helpful. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209waterproofgroup/

I had the predecessor to that camera and it was a piece of shit. Took horrible photos.

Then when it rusted out from being submerged in saltwater the customer service folks told me "that is because you were supposed to send it in after a year to get the seals replaced. It's on page 253 of the manual"

right

I did hear that they improved the photo taking aspect on the new ones.

Who is the gun slinger muzzling there, the fat dude or the snake? If that guy was muzzling me like that when I was done with the snake I'd be putting the barrel of that bad boy up his [email protected]$$. Cool photo though...did you take it or borrow it from somewhere?
