Knots For Rope Rowing Seat?

904 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Bjorn
Building a rope rowing seat for a pram. Wrapping isn't a problem but how does one start and finish off the wrap so it stays put?
Mines the kind that has a wood dowel on each side and below two slotted stretchers.
PS: Spare me the rope seat hatred...lol

Temp attach one end to the dowel withh a clove hitch leaving a extra foot of tail. Rap over/under then remove clove hitch. Put a overhand loop on it. Run the other end Thru it and tighten down. Use a slip knot to hold it until you have spent some time on the seat. Then retighten.
Use a turnbuckle under seat. After you lace seat tie the end of the rope to each eye then tighten that turnbuckle. Super easy and tightens perfectly.
