La Cieba, Honduras??

687 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  freestoneangler
I'm heading here tomorrow for a medical volunteer trip that will last about a week. We'll be in the town of La Cieba for a few nights before heading inland somewhere to run our vein clinic.

I won't have time to book a guided trip or anything. I know there is bonefishing on some islands off the coast, but I won't have the opportunity to do that.

Has anyone been to this area? Would it be worth bringing a rod for just casual fishing after work for an hour or so?

I've never been, but it I think it would be unwise to visit the Caribbean without a fly rod.

take the rod, you might regret it if you don't, cause if there is salt water there are fishies

Better to have it and not need it then to not have it and wish you did. That said, most guides will have gear available and if the odds are low you'll get the time to play, not hauling stuff with you makes sense too. This advice is worth what you paid for it.

Thanks guys! I'm going to bring a rod and a variety of baitfish patterns and whatever shrimpy things i can tie up tonight. Thanks for the advice and encouragement!
I forgot to ask you, but what is a vein clinic? If it's what I think it is, I'm feeling nauseas. :D
Been there years ago, tough little port town no sense of nearby fishing opportunities... if you could get out to guanaja yes ! But ask the locals. Maybe a skiff ride could change everything.

It's just a medical volunteer trip that focuses on lower extremity venous disease. We'll be closing down bad veins in people legs that lead to things like this....

Holy hell, that's awful. So many of us go through life not even knowing about some of the really bad health related problems that plague others. Now that I've cleaned up the kitchen floor, let me say that I'm very glad there are folks like yourself who were born with ceramic stomachs. :)
