Well all week I've been cranking out as much work on this rod for my lady as I can between 5 is when I get home and 9 when she gets home. That means breaking down my fly tying station and setting up rod building area, working for an hour or two, hiding all the parts, de-smelling the area of epoxies and such, scattering all my fly tying materials and getting on the couch with beer before she gets home, none the wiser.
Been trying to get it done before today's trip for trout and thought I wasn't gonna get it done. She left to get a haircut this morning and I was able to apply the last permagloss coat and let it cure enough to present. Man she's gonna be suprised. I've kept this a secret all week. Pumped on the white blank, bronze guides, and holographic stripping guides. Pretty jazzy rod with her favorite colors on it. Her dad passed last year in august and while sorting thru his stuff I found the steel stencils of the bear and elk... everyone let me take them but I'm glad to have got to add that to this package
