Hi,

Planning to go Kayaking from Larrabee state park and was wondering if there is any good Salmon or sea Run Cutthroat fishing opportunities within paddling distance this time of year? Any rockfish around this area?

Thanks,

Thomas

You will need to search for the cutts and even if you find them there won't be many. I would think that you may be able to find some silvers later in the summer. Crabbing can be good.

You can have succes trolling flies behind your kayak close to shore for cutties and coho, it's never a "sure thing"
cast sik tips and big flies around the little rock islands for some rockfish and greenling

You should check your regs.Rockfish is closed and salmon doesn't start until Aug.16(I think),area 7 is open but Bellingham bay is different.Bellingham bay runs from north of Lummi island to the Saminsh bay area according to WDFW.There are cutts, greenling and some other bottomfish in that area though.Chuckanut bay is a cool place to paddle either way.
