I had a last minute work trip pop up to Juneau AK next week. Being from the East Coast I have no clue what to tie, what to bring, etc. I had brief call w. local fly shop but looking for a little more DIY guidance. Will have car and a full day to fish. Plan on simplifying and bringing a 7wt for all species with an intermediate and floating line.

Any help/guidance/suggestions appreciated.

PM or post responses.

MUCH APPRECIATED

I had the same thung happen to me last year. I would say you cant go wrong with the 7wt. There is a flyshop close to the airport. They will have the local info. There is pleanty of salt watter access to the north and south of town. I would bring standard saltwater flies like clousers. Its a gusee but i would think that there would be Coho in the area. That said buying a few flys at the local shop would be better info than what im giving you.

Alaska fly fishing goods (on Old Dairy road) has all the flies and local Intel you will need, drop a few Jacksons and they will be much more inclined to dial you in.

Few (if any) coho available right now, and a low-abundance pink year off to a slow start. There are dollies in all the usual roadside fisheries as well.

If you would prefer a guided fly-out, ping me and I can give you more info.
