I used to fish Leech lake a lot back in the mid to late 80's and made it there once last year in late June. From my experience the fishing usually started turning on around mid June depending on the temperature. As the temperatures increase the fishing slows. The lake is not that deep and the aquatic plants get pretty thick. I wouldn't call the brookies that inhabit the lake trophies by any stretch of the imagination but they are very pretty looking fish. If you are lucky you might catch one around 12"-13" but most are around 7"-8". My favorite fly to use at Leech is a damsel nymph but pretty much anything you have in your flybox will work.
