My recommendation would be to leave the rods at home and just enjoy the town.
Lots of good food and things to see.
My recommendation would be to leave the rods at home and just enjoy the town.I'm going to be in Leavenworth Wed and Thurs. Any recommendations on fishing over there?
We are renting a room downtown and have all day Wed and half a day Thurs.
Its looks are very, very deceiving. There's a reason it's perpetually closed.Gawd it looked so fishy!
That's some serious fuckin intel!Nate, only fishing now is on the ice at Fish lake. Rent the sleds. There's rentals at Coles' Corner about 15 miles West on highway 2, at the turnoff to Lake Wenatchee. Headwaters Pub is a great place for a beer and a pizza afterwards! Drive towards Lake Wenatchee, and go past the park entrance. It's just before you get to the bridge on the Wenatchee river. All the rivers are closed, so you might as well leave the rods home..... In town, Gustav's has great burgers, as does the Hidelberger just at the entrance to town on highway 2, and if you need gas don't go to the two idiots who own the 76 stations in town. There's a Shell at the junction of 97 and 2 that's at least 20 cents/gallon cheaper!
Here's the skinny for "atmosphere" in town: Andreas Keller is the best for Gemutlichkeit (good cheer), Viscounti's for great Italian food (they have a crab linguini in a lemon cream sauce that's to die for!), Cafe Mozart is good also. A couple of other places come to mind, but they're pricy. Place to stay away from is Behren Haus-rotten service and the food is only so-so. King Ludwig's is also good, and if you're staying in town here and have access to cooking facilities, Dan's has decent grub (best is their chicken!). Stay away from Safeway's Chinese slop in their deli-it's nasty! if you wander down to Wenatchee, Taquiria el Rinconsito on the corner of Miller & Springlake is fantastic, and I've also heard that el Porton in East Wenathee has great Mexican food as well. Haven't eaten there so i can't vouch for it, but the rest, i've been to. Don't neglect the Icicle Brewery either! Skiing should be pretty good, but at Stevens, you want to get there about 8:30 to get a good parking spot, maybe earlier on the weekend. Mission Ridge I think is much better, as is the food, and .....they have Irish Death on tap!! The place should be pretty quiet right about now, thanks to no "festivals" going on.
there's two; Munchen Haus, and another one i've never been to that's part of Cured (incredible salami and jerkey!) The folks who own Munchen Haus are my next door neighbors, the Brulottes. They also own Icicle Brewery. South, yeah, that's a primo place for South American grub, and their dark hot sauce is incredible (for me, it needs a little salt though!). There's also a distillery in town, but I haven't been there. Bottom line in LederHosenLand, is you better get their early for a parking place. If you're staying in town, and can walk to the core, it's not that critical, but I try not to shop there. It's all little "boutique-y" shops that don't have anything I'd buy, so for us guys, if you're taking the other half out for a romantic get a way, be prepared for the "shopping " experience!Yea South is one of my favorites. I really like the outdoor brat place with the 15 different types of mustards.
