time to start thinking about these lakes again. I see a lot of people leaving their boats by the launch at Lenice when camping in the lot - especially at the beginning of the season (probably compares to the top of Everest with oxygen bottles). Anyone had any troubles with that?
I'm gearing up for a few over nighters in the lot instead of staying at Desert Aire and am curious about thefts.

Any input is appreciated.

thanks-dp

I wouldn't do it, for the same reasons I wouldn't leave it anywhere else. Pontoons are light, quiet, and easy to move. Besides that, if everybody's doing it, what's to stop some miscellaneous guy from walking down there, grabbing your boat like he knows what he's doing, and making off with it? Even if someone sees him, they're not likely to know it's not his boat.

My 2 cents.

I have never left mine at Lenice, but know people who do. I leave mine at the waters edge at bigtwin inwinthrop and I'm in a tent acouple hundred yards away. If someone wants it they are gonna take it. Maybe I'm to trusting.

You should be okay if you leave it at the lake, hide it among the bushes somewhere, there are several spots. Thieves are too lazy to go down to the lake to pack something out. If you didn't have to pack it in so far I wouldn't leave it. The people I know who leave it overnight and fish the next day have had good luck. They get there first thing in the morning.

I have been leaving my 60lb plus pontoon boat down by the water for over 25 years, so far no problem. I don't think I would leave a tube or fatcat. I think my boat has been politely borrowed, and returned though. Just don't leave flippers, nets, rods, coolers fly boxes, etc etc anything that can be walked off with easily.

Make sure to leave your gear bags ZIPPED UP. I left mine open and a mouse ate half my breakfast and shit all over it. Three bites later I was puking on the lake. Pretty gross man.

Ive left my boat down there also, no problem. Every time Ive been down threre has been a bounch of boats hanging out. Looks like some spend the whole summer there. I also bring a small cable that has permantent loops in it, throw a padlock on it with a few boat looped in it. If they stole em they would have to earn it at least.

I took my pontoon out after it sat a couple of weeks. Got out on the lake and discovered bees had made a nest. It's no fun getting swarmed with nowhere to go. If it wasn't for the waders I would have swam for shore.LOL
I don't leave my pontoon boat on any lake shore anymore. This summer I left my boat on the beach at McGinnis. In the middle of the night a huge summer storm blew in and wreaked havoc, seriously damaging my boat and breaking my Sage I left on the 'toon.

Seems to me there was an incident a few years back where some deranged fuck took a knife or ice pick to several toons parked at the main Lenice put-in and ended up getting his sorry ass arrested. I can't remember the specifics but the occasion prompted a lengthy discussion here. Anybody else remember that?

Left my Spring Creek Pram at Nunnally Lake a couple of years ago and to my surprise it was gone the next morning. Even though we were camped in the parking lot a couple of locals thought it would be OK to use it. I've also left my pram a Lenice many times with no problems but I do have a cable lock were we now lock a couple of boat together.

I have left mine down there without problems, but it only takes once...
NEVER leave food in your "boat" overnight. Critters have claws and claws pop boats.
Triploidjunkie... A swarm of bees while you were on the lake? That must have SUCKED!!!! LOL
