The Feds' do a nice job of keeping the concrete (fake wood) doo-doo cabins well cared for. The users are a special breed also. Campsites are clean and self-policed. Don't forget bug spray. Moe Skeeter has clouds of relatives, but Minnesota still Trumps any others with vermin.

Fishing is heavy, 15 craft on Thursday, but the few fish are bigger. Probably because only about 500(?) big-uns were planted this spring. Weekenders should look for lodgings elsewhere. Or, hope for lots of rain. The food fare and bait seems to follow what crawls, swims, and floats. I heard.... That's heard, that Mayfly nymphs, Damsel Nymphs, and the dry favorite, Adams, were hooking them. But it looked like one or two guys made the others envious, so real look-alikes were in demand.

This is boat only water. Read the Regs.

Never fished Leech Lake. I should think a Mohair Leech pattern would be the go to pattern? As for the public commodes and their maintenance, I think WA's are on the not so good end of the spectrum as compared to their neighboring states.

WDFW facilities are atrocious. I was really surprised by the Forest Service outhouse being so clean. And, it's not a contract site. I actually had to say something useful this time. Hope I didn't piss off any Keep-it-Secret people.

I don't think the lake has leeches. I mean, Dog Lake is right next door and never saw a dog in it. I suppose, swimming the thing might bring out (or, on) the wormy darlings.

Maintaining clean restrooms is what the Feds are known for doing. They strive to maintain this rep. Its one of the few things that everybody loves.
WDFW apparently doesn't give a shit. The pit toilets at the local WDFW boat launches are usually looking like hellholes. One might try to blame that on the public, but I'm not buying it.

Couldn't agree with you more, Jim. It would be good to know where my contribution to recreational extortion fees is sent. Obviously, not for what I have seen.

I drove back home a number of years ago & arrived later than I had told folks that I would. When my Nephew asked me why I was so late, I replied: "Well, I was cruising along & every so often I'd see a sign that announced "Clean Restrooms Ahead.' Do you know how many restrooms there are between Tri Cities & your place? I about wore myself out cleaning restrooms; I never thought I'd get here."

Maybe I'll take some pics of the pit toilets at the launches I use. The cleanest one I've seen or used is at the Satsop River ramp just downstream of the Hwy 8 bridge.
The facilities at the state parks usually are well maintained. The ones at the boat ramps seem relatively neglected.

I was going to use one of those pit toilets one time up by Boardman Creek Campground. I couldn't hardly get in the Door. Somebody had stuck a log in the thing. It was about 4" in diameter. And the toilet had shit all over the floor. Then there are some the State Game department don't even bother with anymore. This is all In Washington State.
