I made a trip to Idaho Falls last year to look at a car for my granddaughter. The cars was a total loss. On the way home I was somewhat hungry. So while driving up I-15 I stopped in Dubios Id. 95% of the town was boarded up. There was a gas station and a small cafe. It didn't look like much. It was painted black. It was small outside and inside.

The food was reasonable priced and huge helpings. Don't remember the cost but it wasn't very much.

I live in Dillon. There is no place here that turns my head around. You have Sparky's, Blacktail Station, The Lions Den, Papa "T's", Klondike, The Breakfasts in Sparky's were good but they quit serving breakfast. The Lions Den only serves Lunch and dinner. Same with Blacktail Station. Prices are high in the Lions Den and Blacktail Station. Food is so-so.

You also have the Pita Pit and MacDonald's and Dairy Queen. A few bars serve food, but I don't eat in any of them. Plus a Taco bus sits here also.

55 years or so ago there used to be a small burger place between Lynnwood and Everett on Highway 99 heading south. I forgot what the name was but they had the best burgers in Washington State. I can still remember how they taste.

They expanded and the place went to hell.

When you put cheese on a burger it's not a burger any more. It's a cheese burger. I don't like lettuce on a burger or sour pickles. Lots of onions and tomatoes. Mustard and Catsup is all I like also. Hot pickles also turn me off.

Coming back to the wet side from a two week trip on Montana rivers, I found myself very hungry and a little road weary. Needing gas also, I pulled off in Ritzville on late Sunday evening. Half expecting to see the sidewalks neatly tucked away for the night, I see Perkins is still open and the p-lot nearly empty. While I am usually not fond of chain restaurants, I really didn't have much choice for a sit down meal.
Sipping a cup of coffee, I decided I needed more beef, even after spending quality time in Montana. So I order a nice rib eye, but went out on a limb and ordered a side of onion rings as an appetizer. Best decision I have made in a long time.
Out come a full dinner plate stacked high with golden brown juicy walla walla sweets fried up perfect. No dipping sauce required. Crunchy on the outside, sweet and succulent on the inside.
My steak came out while I was about halfway through the pile of goodness, and I think I only took a few bites of a very good steak and ordered doggy bag. While waiting for my card being processed, I finished every last morsel of rings.
Best road food encounter other than 2$ shots of Crown at the Silver Dollor in Ennis.
I have stopped there before also. Don't remember what I ate but it was good.

When ever I'm out and about fishing I never eat.. I might take a sandwich along, but never stop to eat. I did stop in Dubois ID. At a small Cafe. I had breakfast. It was more that I could ever eat.
I also stopped at a restaurant in Lima, Mt. Pretty good Hamburger. But other than these I don't stop to eat.

Now we are talking good places to eat from the past. Used to hit the Chicken Coop in Lynnwood after a night of drinking beer at the Lynnwood Tavern. Or the Pine cone. They were some good dives. I don't think any of those old hang outs are still with us.. The Hand Out was a little shack along Highway 99 north of Lynnwood. Best Hamburgers I ever ate. They took one order at a time. Put their all in it. They closed down the shack and built a better place but the food went to hell after all of that.
