Street legal (see Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, Northern Flicker) version of the original Yellowhammer, a Smoky Mountain staple, in dry form. Beefed up the tail a bit; Logan's tie used only 2 moose hairs.

thread - Danville 6/0 pale yellow
rib - x-small wire gold
tail - moose body
abdomen - peacock herl
wing - woodduck flank
hackle - yellow (1tbs Rit golden yellow/1 cup of water)

mash barb, start thread at 3/4 mark

remove center stem from wooduck flank

tie in with 2 soft loops, pull stem to rear to reach desired length (shank); tie down/trim, cover butts with thread, tie in rib/wrap to point above barb

clean, stack, measure (hook length) some moose body hairs; tie in, wrap butts to wing butts, trim, cover with thread

tie in peacock, wrap to 2/3 mark; tie off/trim

counterwrap rib, helicopter end/cover with thread

divide woodduck, separate with cross wraps, post with a couple wraps at base of wings to set proper angle
